WHAT EXACTLY IS WORKPLACE WELLNESS?
Also known as corporate wellness, it is typically an extracurricular seminar, talk, demonstration, or educational activity led by a qualified health practitioner that educates employees on ways to improve their health, both in and out of the workplace.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF WORKPLACE WELLNESS?
A recent study found that for every $1 an employer spends on corporate wellness,
they save around $4 on health care costs and $3 on absenteeism.
Mountains of research support that healthier employees are happier employees. The numbers really do speak for themselves. Last year, the Employer Health Benefits Survey showed that 92% of companies with 200 employees or more offered some type of wellness program. There is a direct correlation between healthy employees, increased productivity, and a strong sense of company morale – all of which are linked to higher employee retention and very attractive to potential new hires!
Sixty percent of Americans spend the majority of waking hours in the workplace, so creating a healthy culture at work is vital for setting the stage to healthy habits in all areas of life.
